![]() I never expected Apple to destroy my two Mac Minis with an OSX update which could never have been tested and which could not be undone. I never expected to have a half year project to get my two perfectly good Mac Minis to work again after a simple update to Monterey. Ultimately the third party installed two Crucial 2TB SSDs which I supplied, one in each mac, and installed El Capitan. Apple would not even downgrade my All Apple 2014 Mac Mini to Big Sur. They did what Apple could not, they did what Apple would not. I had to go to independent even to simply get both of my impacted Mac Minis to function again. Apple was never able to resolve Monterey's slow performance and once they were even unable to update it to the next minor version. OK, it's been 6 months and over a dozen Apple visits. There is no workaround.ħ - To check for 32 bit Applications - a good application to use is Go64 - safe to use. These include Applications, Extensions and Drivers for any devices. Same goes for Third Party Drivers for Printer, Scanners etc.Ħ - If upgrading from Mojave and earlier versions of macOS - Remember that Monterey does not support anything 32 bit. ![]() Check with the Developer for compatible Apps / extensions. At least one Tested Clone and / or Time Machine Backup should be Off - Siteĥ - Are the installed Applications / Extensions compatible with Monterey. This is insurance incase the upgrades goes sideways. A Time Machine Backup is very useful and can be used to Revert to Previous Working macOS.Ĥ - For addition purposes - two Tested Bootable Clones each to separate external drives. ![]() This comprises having 3 Backups using 2 methods and 1 Off Site incase of Theft, Loss or Natural Disasters. They will often times attempt to Modify, Alter, Remove or Delete elements of the Operating System requiring a Re-Installation.ģ - Do you have a Rescue Plan In-Place. The The Built in Security is all that is required.Ģ - Disk Cleaners, Optimizers and UnInstaller are not needed. ![]() They are unneeded, cause havoc and interfere with the normal operation of the OS and may even Corrupt the OS requiring a Reinstallation. What version of macOS was installed before upGrading to Monterey ?ġ - Any AntiVirus Software Installed - should be removed as per Developers Instructions.
